Copper Horizon – The Story of Mary MacLane film updates soon! follow us on instagram @marymaclanecopperfilm & facebook fb.me/copperhorizonfilm
Log Line: Mary MacLane, a wild brilliant teenage writer in Butte, MT, 1901, yearns to escape her oppressed existence and run away with her literature teacher Fannie. She writes to her as she confides in her handsome fantasy companion. As the end of school approaches, time is running out for her to find the right words to tell Fannie of her feelings.
Crew and Representation: We have a 80% female crew above the line and 75% below the line. This story has never been told as a visual “based on ” adaptation of Mary MacLane and is crying out to be heard. As with top rated period pieces like Dickinson, The English and Peaky Blinders’ huge popularity, Mary’s Story is authentically western and true. The genres include dark comedy and revisionist western. The film will appeal to Montana natives young and old, the literary community, scholars, history buffs, the LGBTQ+ community, and artists in all disciplines.
About: Copper Horizon is a live action narrative short in the pre-production phase. Copper Horizon will prioritize hiring top local Montanans to bring this racy historic story to the big screen. We plan to make Mary’s story come alive again in Butte, in the house where she wrote her book which sold over 100,000 copies within the first month of publication. The takeaway includes watching a 19 year old stick to her writing and the love of her life (Fannie Corbin), while living in the wild, industrial western town of Butte, while confiding with her imaginary male companion.

We are honored to welcome
